The Project

J.P. Wild have recently completed the conversion works of a vacant nightclub into a multi-purpose community space and training facility at Glydegate Unit 3, Bradford, BD5 0BQ next door to the Alhambra Theatre.

The works involved the strip out of the existing nightclub back to a shell, the formation of new studwork walls to create the new kitchen and toilet areas, a new glazed partition to create a new room in the rotunda area. All new mechanical and electrical was installed throughout with drop down lighting, exposed air-conditioning cassettes, associated ductwork and cable trays to the entrance and canteen areas, acoustic baffles were installed to this area to reduce sound transfer due to the high-level ceilings. New suspended ceilings were installed to the rotunda, canteen and toilet areas.

A brand-new stainless-steel kitchen was installed including, ovens, hot plates, large extraction hoods, fridges, dishwasher, shelving and sinks. New flooring was installed throughout as well as full decoration to all walls, woodwork and ceilings including the green feature wall in the entrance lobby area. A new wall was installed to the 2nd floor half solid and half glazed as a viewing gallery from above.

All of the external double doors were replaced with new aluminium ones, repairs were carried out to the existing damaged glazing and curtain walling. New signage and lighting were installed to external façade of the building which is illuminated in the dark.

The refurbishment works have created a fantastic community centre for locals to enjoy various activities.
