This year, in lieu of sending Christmas cards or gifts to our clients and contacts, J. P. Wild Ltd is proud to instead make a financial donation to a couple of chosen charities.
Candlelighters is a registered charity that supports families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire and is involved in all sorts of different projects to help ordinary families who are facing extraordinary circumstances.
Whilst already aware of Candlelighters, we were delighted to be engaged by the charity earlier this year in relation to Brandon Cottage, a short walk from Leeds Children’s Hospital, which had been acquired to provide a home from home; for use by families when their child is an inpatient receiving treatment.
Over and above our typical commercial projects that we take immense pride in there have been a number of projects (disabled adaptations and the like) down the years that have particularly touched us and the charity’s proved to be one of those.
J.P. Wild acted as Principal Contractor on a comprehensive 16 week strip out and refurbishment programme of external and internal works at the cottage, which allows Candlelighters to provide four extra rooms with en-suite facilities per night, 365 days a year. The cottage also provides a downstairs shared area made into one large kitchen diner and lounge area, allowing the opportunity for families to support each other.
We recently caught up at the cottage with Marie, Amy and Helena from the charity and were just as delighted to learn that the cottage is now in full use and fulfilling its primary objective.
