The Project

Further to a competitive tendering & interview process, J.P.Wild was delighted to be appointed by ECO Integrated Property Solutions to carry out the comprehensive external and internal refurbishment of a long-neglected property on behalf of Candlelighters Charity.

Candlelighters, the registered charity that supports families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire, acquired Brandon Cottage to provide a home from home; for use by families when their child is an inpatient receiving treatment. The Cottage is a short walk from both the Candlelighters office and the Leeds General Infirmary, so it is ideally located.

The works involved the strip out, extension, complete refurbishment and reconfiguration to provide four bedrooms with ensuite facilities, together with shared kitchen, lounge, dining and outside relaxation areas.

The site posed significant access restrictions. However, with good management and careful planning, these issues were overcome, with the works exceeding client expectation, and with Marie Peacock (Candlelighters Head of Income Development) stating “I am absolutely thrilled with how the Cottage looks – you have a great team!”
